Journey of a housewife
After I quit my job, I attended quite a number of course/sales talk (promoting their course) after I quit my corporate job. Property classes, online marketing class, online selling seminars , trading seminars, options seminar.. whatever they name the course, I just attend to gain some exposure and knowledge to see if there are any skills that I could pick up to earn some income. Some are free, some I have to pay for it.
There was this sales talk that I attended which I found interesting. He talk about marketing and drop shipment. At that time I found this option to be very attractive as I do not have to keep stocks, I do not need to worry about shipping and logistics. All I need to do is just to market the product.
But..... (there is always a but ya..) once the factory know who are the customers, do they still need you?? So you put in effort to market to widen the exposure, but you only get to enjoy the first sale... Eh????? Or customers would rather buy from cheaper source than what you can offer.
It was around this time when I attended a paid course that I chance upon this network marketing company called Forever Living selling aloe vera products. (This is another story (o^-')b ) I was attending a course about how to start an online business.
I did learn some skills, learn about SEO (search engine optimization), how to set up a website, how to set up a free website etc etc... But next comes the question ------- what business should I do??? All businesses are so saturated in the market. Where do I start?
The trainer gave me a suggestion - nanny business.........
So.... erm.... then... eh.....
Of course 泡汤 (To have hope dashed). Where do I find nannies huh? I do not have any nanny friends or relatives... Help them promote? Then they give me a cut of their earnings? If they already have serve someone and is good enough, they would have gotten referrals from previous employers...
So attending all these course doesn't really help me much...... Some need huge capital, which to be honest, I don't have much...
Some background about myself. I came from a not so well to do family. I started working when I was in Primary 6. But that was part time to a small bookshop. Can't expect much there. I work after my 'O' Levels and 'A' Levels. I also work during the school holidays of my university days. All the money I earn goes to feeding myself during normal school days. My university school fees, I borrowed from the bank. After graduation, it was during one of time when market was down and jobs were hard to find. Even when you find a job, the salary is less than peanuts. I was lucky, I manage to find a job. But due to the peanut pay, I took a while to pay up my loan. After paying up the loan, first time I suddenly had money on my hands, so i sign up for facial pakages, massages packages, slimming packages etc... (pretty stupid right? I think so too) But to a 20+yo who suddenly have money, I feel rich.. (so money sense is very important ya.. do sign your kids up for any money sense course.. I read many news many years back on young adults over spending using their credit cards... Its a scary thing to be in debt so young...)
Takeaway: Money sense is VERY IMPORTANT especially now everything is digital. Alot of times, we can spend without knowing we have overspent... So even adults can overspend let alone young adults who just step into the society and have their first paycheck. The euphoria of having money.......Oooooohhhhh..... how nice......
