What next?

Recently I met up a long time friend for lunch. She is my ex colleague. We haven't been in contact since I left the company. So we have not been in touch for 10 years at least.

I saw her online FB messenger and text her. She replied me to my surprise as a few of my FB friends just ignored my messenger. Maybe they all thought I am a scammer. And its true that I haven't been active on FB for a long time. As I feel that FB waste a lot of my time. FB can be rather addictive... I rather be doing something else like reading my book, doing my chore (◔~◔)..............

I used to read in WUXIA app as they will help to translate the novel into English. But after awhile, I find it too slow, so I 硬着头皮 read the Chinese version. The website I frequented is https://www.69shu.com/. Current novel I am chasing is https://www.69shu.com/txt/42054.htm. Now I am used to reading the Chinese novel. I find my Chinese has improved!! (ृ ´͈ ᵕ `͈ ृ )ु

Too bad the words are not suitable to be used in the composition... (-_-) zzZ

Back to meeting up my old friend. She shared a lot of things that happened to her for the past 10 years. But the most impactful thing she shared with me is during these past 10 years, she had a few friends loosing their husband suddenly leaving behind a young child with the jobless mother (her friend). She herself also suffered from some health issues that was the result of investing herself into her job mindlessly. The worse thing is that the company is not even appreciative and even doubt her working capability whether she can still continue to contribute to the company. She has to get the doctor to write a letter to verify that she can still continue with her job!!! What an insult!!!

But what she said is the reality!!! That's life. That's the society. The earth still revolve. The company still continues even if you are not around. Nobody is indispensable!! We are only indispensable to our family. (erm.... maybe not for some. But I think for majority...)

Check out the news recently on this:

一语点醒梦中人. Why do we work so hard for the company when they can dispose of us so easily!! Why not invest in yourself? We also shouldn't rely on our family members or spouse. What happens if something happens to them suddenly?? (Touch wood ya!!!)

I recommend all to watch Oppa saranghae. The show is really well made and is very reflective of the world. For those who cannot imagine, this show can help you visualise.

The role played by Rui En - Ou Yang Qi Qi is a middle age, high flyer in an advertising/marketing company. She has dedicated more that 10 years (was it 18 years to be precise?? Can't remember.. See my old bad memory.... 老了....) to this company. And look what she got in return? She was forced to quit as the netizens were aggressive and adamant. It also post problems for her when she look for new jobs as new companies are also concerned if this will affect the company image and survival. She was also burnt out from the company as we can see when she fell sick while working on the computer at home. She was still required to work while she was sick. After working so hard for so many years, she was easily replaced by the newbie Shine.

Shine's role is also a wakeup call to many young people I think. She was initially very positive, idealistic, speaks her mind when she sees something inappropriate regardless of whether she will offend anybody. But as she move along in society, she changes to someone who has to bow to society and do things against her initial self. She no longer is the idealistic and frank person as compared to when she just started work. 人在江湖, 身不由己 (one has to compromise to the world)....... sigh...

Society is a cruel teacher. I also tell my kiddos, " You can make mistakes now and we can still guide you. But you have to listen and change. When you made a mistake in society, sometimes the mistake can cause irreversible damage, by then it will be too late to regret. There is no regret pill in life to help you reverse the damage." Anyway, whether they will listen is another matter ya.... young folks can be rather stubborn and think they are invincible.... Sigh... 经验之谈 (talk from experience) After all we have been young before, isn't it?? So long ago......

Nowadays the internet is really very scary. There are so many cases whereby the netizens stalk the wrong person. Even though it was later on clarified that the person was not the correct person, the stress and humiliation he/she faced throughout the process prior to the clarification was immense!!! Cyber bullying is a huge thing. These irresponsible people hide behind the internet façade and cause harm to many people. I am sure they also cost many lives. I wonder if they will feel any guilt? Will all these be built into their karma and when it is time for judgement, they will be punished??

得饶人处且饶人.......
